Ringing the Bell for a Good Cause

Today, Women’s Club members Lorna Broughton and Marlene Abbate volunteered as bell ringers for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle drive at the local Winn Dixie in Green Cove Springs.  This annual bell-ringing tradition by the charity organization raises money from donations to their red kettles to help families in need throughout the community, especially during the holiday season.  Per the Salvation Army, “every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar collected in your community stays local and supports local Salvation Army programs. Donating 2 hours of your time generates $80-$100.”
More volunteer bell-ringers are needed at the Green Cove Springs Winn Dixie and the Hibernia Pavilion Publix, located in Fleming Island.

The Salvation Army will continue to “ring the bell” until the evening of December 23rd.  If interested in ringing for a 2-hour shift, please contact Kim Lewis, Salvation Army, by emailing her at kim.lewis@uss.salvationarmy.org.

Thank you, Lorna and Marlene.
