Friends – Fun – Farewell

On Wednesday, April 1, a group of our members gathered for a farewell card game for Valorie Shepard.  Valorie has sold her home and is ready to start on another adventure in her life. She has lived in Magnolia Point for 13 years and has belonged to our Club for the same time. Originally, she and her husband, Dick, came to Magnolia Point as vacationing snowbirds in the Clubhouse villas. Following Dick’s passing, Valorie decided to move here permanently.

Valorie and Isabella, “Bella”, her Shih Tzu-Yorkie dog and friend, will be moving to Midlothian, Virginia.  She has purchased a condo and will live by her son, Kevin.

For those who hear me call her “Babs”, it short for Barbara. Valorie kept showing up with a card holder with Barbara on it.  It’s been fun ribbing her about this.

Valorie is not only a Women’s Club member, she’s also a member of the Red Hat Hotties and plays Samba with the Elks group.  Overall, she has managed to develop many friendships within our community.  I asked for some parting words and she said, “My parting sentiment is that the memories of my Magnolia friends will always bring a smile and, for some of you, a big bwahaha.”

We will miss you! Safe travels.
