The Women’s Club has been packing weekend food for qualifying students at Charles E. Bennett Elementary in Green Cove Springs since 2012, with a short break during the COVID pandemic. Not only do the Club’s members volunteer each week during the school year, some of their spouses also take turns helping pack meals. Several years ago, 2 of the co-chairs’ spouses (shout out to Jack Shields and Herman Brame!) helped every week. Last Friday, Ron Braatz volunteered along with his wife, Joanie, member Linda Thill, co-director Lorna Broughton and parent volunteer Anabel Morales. The group packed and delivered 95 bags of weekend food.
