July Meeting Chatter

Before our meeting on July 12, members were able to buy raffle tickets for a 50/50 drawing held to raise funds for operational expenses for the Women’s Club upcoming Holiday Arts & Craft Fair on November 11 at the Clay County Fairgrounds.  The raffle earned $82 and Carrie Cardascia won $41.  Carrie graciously donated her winnings to Tools for School, our Clay Education Foundation schools’ collection program in process.   The 50/50 raffle will be held before the August, September and October meetings for the same reason, so come with cash!  ($1/ticket and $5/6 tickets).

Members were asked to come dressed with patriotic colors. Everyone voted for the best of the many who came adorned in their finest red, white and blue.  Second place went to Val Shepard (loved the patriotic Heidi braids), and first place to Shirley Orvosh with her lovely flag dress!  Both ladies received a rose plant from our Activities Committee. Cindy Triay and Ramona Ferrara were our July birthday ladies; each received a birthday lottery ticket and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday from the crowd.  Prizes were compliments of our Activity Committee.

Following the meeting was a presentation by Cheri Starnes, Chair of the GCS Citizens Advisory Committee.   She provided an update on the status of “goings-on” with city planning.  Her information was much appreciated and she fielded many questions from members.
