Goodbye, Dear Friend Mikie!

Today, a group of ladies got together to say “goodbye” to Mikie Porfidio, a long-time Magnolia Point resident and Women’s Club member.  Val Shepard and Marlene Jacobs, good friends of Mikie’s, hosted a get-together at Val’s house for members to say goodbye and wish her well.  Mikie was a huge supporter of the Women’s Club, as well as Magnolia Point.  She volunteered to be on the Women’s Club hospitality committee, the program committee and was vice president for a one-year term, to name a few, and was also a realtor for many years in the area.  The ladies shared lots of great stories and reminisced about the fun they have had together over the years.  Not only was Mikie involved in volunteer work, she also was a great card player – HKF and Samba – and participated as often as she could, even when she was recuperating from broken bones!

Mikie is relocating to Jupiter, Florida, her original home, where her daughter and her family still reside.  Her son, Joe and his wife Cathy and family, who also live in Magnolia Point, will keep our group updated on Mikie’s activities from afar.  Mikie will be greatly missed and we will remember her friendship with lots of love and fond memories.

P.S.  Val isn’t pictured in the photos – she had to take one of her dogs to the emergency vet, but the party went on without her.   Thanks, Val, for hosting the group in your lovely home!  There were other members who stopped by after the photo session ended and were not included in the photos.
