At the Women’s Club member meeting yesterday (April 10), attendees were treated to a cooking demonstration by Magnolia Point Golf & County Club’s very own head chef Michael Meeks. To open his demonstration, he provided background on how he became a chef and the various venues he worked before coming to Magnolia Point.
Chef Meeks demonstrated making a simple risotto and gave us tips on how to make it creamy and delicious, as well as different foods that can be added to enhance the dish. One important take-away was that Minute Rice cannot be used to make risotto! We were all treated with a sample of his chicken risotto, which was excellent.
Chef Meeks also let the members sample a new dessert he is hoping will join the menu line-up shortly. The dessert was a chocolate cake/ice cream concoction with fudge sauce and nuts on top. One of the things Chef shared was that he churns all the ice cream that is used in the kitchen. Wow! All present decided the dessert definitely needed to make it on the menu.
Chef was very gracious and answered lots of members’ questions after his presentation and food sampling. He has a very extensive background and we are so blessed he ended up cooking for us!
