"Pointing the Way" Newsletters
The MPWC Newsletter, Pointing the Way, was temporarily suspended in May 2022. The archived newsletters can be viewed by clicking on corresponding year button below. The Club's very first newsletter was published in November 2001, and thanks to Susan Mitchell, all issues are now available for viewing.
"Magnolia News" Newsletters
In May 2002, Club Management at the time asked Susan Mitchell to do a Club newsletter, and the first edition was published in June 2002. Susan continued writing the newsletters, with the final newsletter published in January 2009.
In December 2008, the Florida Times-Union, the newspaper for the greater Jacksonville area, introduced the "Living Series" magazines for the larger communities and Magnolia Point was one. Bob Tague, a Magnolia Point resident, was the Communications Chair for the HOA at that time and became responsible for each month's publication, known as The Magnolia Living. The first issue was published in February 2009. This was a unique opportunity as the magazine was delivered to every homeowner once a month. Susan continued to write articles for this newsletter, including articles for the Women's Club, both ladies golf leagues and the Homeowners Association.
In June 2020, the Times-Union informed the HOA that it was going to cease publication of the Living Magazines due to loss in revenues. The July 2020 issue was the final Magnolia Living published.
Susan then offered to continue an electronic-only version of the newsletter, and both the Homeowners Association and the Country Club were happy that a monthly newsletter would continue. When Susan broke her broken ankle in the spring of 2022, she was unable to continue as editor and asked Dave Petraglia if he was interested in continuing the magazine; Dave was happy to do so and "The Magnolia News" has been in publication since.
Susan has reformatted all the old "Magnolia News" newsletters into a PDF format. Each year's monthly publication has been combined into a single document and they can be viewed by clicking on the corresponding year button below. Enjoy reading them - the Club was a happening place during that time period!
